WITH heat on for both teams at opposite ends of the table, Sporting Khalsa came out on top against Stalybridge Celtic.
After a couple of half-chances, it was the home side who took the lead through a rocket into the top corner from Pakistan international Rahis Nabi.
Khalsa nearly doubled their lead through a shot on the turn from Andre Landell which whistled just over the crossbar.
