DESPITE seeing off ten-man Stafford Rangers on the final day, Vauxhall Motors’ hopes of making a late play-off push were dashed by results elsewhere.
Two second-half strikes saw The Motormen end a run of three straight defeats, but wins for Bootle and Lower Breck saw the hosts fall just short of fifth spot.
Stafford knew their safety was confirmed before a ball was kicked, but their chances of finishing the season on a high took a blow just before half-time when midfielder Ashley Fallon was given his marching orders.
