HEDNESFORD looked to put a difficult week behind them as a new era dawned with Danny Glover and Ben Bailey taking temporary charge of the team.
The Pitmen got off to a flying start when a fourth-minute freekick from the left went through to Osebi Abadaki, who advanced on goal and produced a low finish.
An ugly challenge on Ben O’Hanlon saw Hitchin reduced to ten men as Jack Green received his marching orders but the Canaries equalised when Alex Marsh broke down the right and produced an inch-perfect cross for Lewis Barker to score.
