THE home side got off to the perfect start in front of a big home crowd when Tommy Smith’s header found the target.
Cameron Groom produced a wonder save for the Comrades in the second half to deny Sonny French from close range.
The game opened up in the closing stages with substitute James Verney laying on a golden chance for Lewis Toomey who shot wide at the canal end.
Alie Bangura then set up Toomey and this time he made no mistake to double the lead in the 85th minute.
