■ A BUMPER crowd of 645 saw table toppers Bedford Town go three points closer to promotion.
Kempston had the first chance of the game, Charlie Hayford striking the crossbar from close range.
The visitors had the opportunity from the penalty spot to break the deadlock in the sixth minute, but Rene Howe blazed over. The miss wasn’t costly as the striker headed in just three minutes later.
