■ narrow victory over WELWYN GC scraped the bottom side, but had to survive some anxious moments.
They took the lead five minutes before the break when Carlos Flood’s cross-shot was just touched over the line by the head of Josh Hutchinson.
Victory remained in the balance until ten minutes from time when Luc Ackermann-Stanfield slipped a challenge and shot into the far corner.
But there was drama in added time. WGC conceded a penalty when keeper Charlie Crowley missed his punch and flattened Barton’s Conor Clarke.
