Met off to a flier thanks to Alves

THE Met edged past Merthyr Town with a narrow win at Penydarren Park. The away side started brightly, with midfielder Herson Alves able to capitalise on this good start in the eighth minute, as he opened the scoreline with a fine free-kick that nestled into the bottom corner.
Minutes later, the Met were presented with a golden opportunity to double their advantage, as Jasper Mather looked destined to score, only to shoot straight into the arms of the Merthyr Town goalkeeper from close range.
