IT was a day of doubles with Carl Stewart and Chris Almond both netting twice.
Cables opened the scoring inside ten minutes when Almond drove low into the bottom corner.
Stewart was back from illness and back in the goals as he levelled with a tap-in from Josh Greening’s corner.
Cables continued to look dangerous and retook the lead when Almond again nipped in and beat Chandler Hallwood. The Merseysiders had drawn their last three league matches and that became four when Stewart sprung the offside trap.
