MARGATE spoiled Thurrock’s return to the Isthmian Premier by scoring the only goal, on their own return to the Premier from a different direction, in a tight encounter at Ship Lane.
Two divisions seperated these sides last season before Margate were relegated from National League South, while the Fleet moved up the pyramid via the Isthmian Division One North play-offs.
Despite this, the first half of this game was an even affair.
Margate went close twice. But the visitors were denied by a great save by Bobby Mason in the Thurrock goal.
