THURROCK finally got off the mark with a narrow victory in this battle of last season’s Isthmian Division One play-off winners.
Thurrock opened the scoring on 17 minutes when Charlie Stimson climbed highest to nod home a half-cleared cross.
Then Ronnie Winn nearly extended the lead but pushed the ball wide.
Dorking equalised from the penalty spot in the 35th minute. Thurrock keeper Tim Brown got a hand on Tom Tolfrey’s effort and it looked as if he saved it.
