A SECOND half penalty from George Sykes was enough to earn Canvey Island victory against Romford.
Having survived some Romford pressure at the end of the first half, Canvey took the lead five minutes into the second after Ryan Burt Allen fouled Ryan Charles inside the box.
George Sykes stepped up and aimed for the bottom corner, but goalkeeper Michael Gooch guessed correctly.
However, despite getting two hands to the ball Gooch was unable to keep it out.
