CANVEY climbed to second in the North with this win.
Bury were reduced to ten men on 75 minutes when Darren Mills was shown a second yellow card.
The only goal came five minutes later as Mitchell Gilbey secured the three points for the Gulls.
A great advantage from referee Luigi Lungarella allowed play to continue after a foul on Ryan Charles, with the ball eventually being worked to Gilbey who scored calmly from just inside the area.
