HERTFORD responded well to midweek defeat to end Brentwood’s six-match unbeaten run. Hertford took the lead on the stroke of half-time, Ricky Light scrambling the ball home.
Nick Hilder hit a post early in the second half but the home side scored again, Toner tapping home after a corner.
Brentwood had ten men for the last 20 minutes after Daryl Robson saw a second yellow card and Hertford made the scoreline emphatic with further goals from Mark Summers and Charlie Edwards.
