MERGER AIMS TO IMPROVE SPORT

THE TWR Wearside League and the Durham Alliance are to merge next season, in a bid to halt the decline of Saturday football in the North East.
An agreement was reached this week whereby the Alliance, which is currently not part of the national league pyramid, will become a development division of the Step 7 league, which in turn feeds into the Ebac Northern League.
