GOAL in each half saw Canvey Island run out winners against AFC Hornchurch.
Canvey took the lead on 15 minutes when Sam Collins got the better of Urchins defender Kenzer Lee to square the ball to Mitchell Gilbey who was on hand to fire across goal and high into the back of the net.
The Gulls were awarded a penalty on 59 minutes after Lee brought down George Sykes. Gilbey stepped up but Sam Mott saved his effort with a low dive to his right.
