RAMSBOTTOM United edged a five-goal thriller against Widnes on the opening day of the Northern Premier League North West Division after a superb second-half comeback at The Riverside.
Widnes started the brighter and took the lead on 11 minutes when Ben Hodkinson raced away before sending a low shot into the corner.
The lead doubled in the 19th minute when Conor Ready took Hodkinson’s pass and his well-placed shot beat Tom Stewart.
However, Widnes defender Danny Shaw was sent off just before half-time for a last-man challenge on Irywah Gooden.
