WELWYN Garden City suffered a shock home defeat and a first loss of the season to lowly Thame United.
The Citizens showed none of the outstanding form that shocked Premier Division Hitchin Town 5-0 in their midweek Southern League Cup win and the Oxfordshire visitors were deserved winners.
Thame took the lead on 19 minutes, when Welwyn defender Will McClelland misjudged a high bounce, leaving Ryan Blake a tap-in.
The lead lasted six minutes, McClelland making amends with a towering header.
