A MARCUS Elliott double led VCD Athletic to victory over Whitstable.
Both sides began tentatively on a very damp and zippy pitch.
Chances were few and far between and it took a moment of class from Elliott to open things up.
He latched onto a ball that wrong-footed the keeper to give the Vickers the lead just after the halfhour.
With the pitch drying, the Vickers started the second half with a bit more pace and adventure, leading to a couple of early chances.
