ASHFORD United edged to victory in their first-ever encounter with Merstham.
Ashford began in brisk fashion and had four excellent chances to score in the first 20 minutes – Danny Parish and Ian Draycott missed and Vance Bola and Ian Draycott were denied by Merstham’s debutant keeper Endurance Johnson.
Ashford took the lead after 26 minutes via Parish.
