COVENTRY Sphinx secured their third league win thanks to a thumping late goal against ten-man Cambridge City.
The visitors laboured after the first-half dismissal of City’s Stefan Broccoli for violent conduct, but came close to opening the scoring when captain Callum Woodward’s free-kick crashed against the bar.
Chances were few and far between as the hosts responded positively to losing a player, but Sphinx gradually took control in the second half with City looking to protect a point.
