■ BOOTLE moved closer to the play-off positions with a comfortable victory at Newcastle Town with a goal in each half.
There was a lovely opening by both sides with Castle’s new signing Jack Sherratt having a shot held by the keeper.
Then after 16 minutes when Ben Hodkinson struggled free to slot home, but Castle went close when Tommy Van Der Laan’s header came back off a post. Castle struggled to get back into the game with Joe Slinn saving well to deny Tom Peterson a second.
