■ WALTHAM Abbey strengthened their promotion ambitions with a win over Kidlington at Capershotts.
Jason Hallett broke the deadlock with an early strike for the Abbotts, and Benjamin Baker’s late finish secured a crucial victory to go three points clear of the chasing pack in the playoff places.
The hosts went in front after five minutes when Hallett capitalised on weak defending to finish past Jack Hopwood.
