■ FORMER Lincoln City striker Matt Rhead sunk Atherton Collieries with the game’s only goal.
The Kidsgrove veteran tested Ellis Litherland early on, before Rhead and Tom Bentham had chances at both ends.
But Rhead who would open the scoring as he met a floated ball in to power a header beyond Litherland.
A succession of Colls appeals were ignored by the referee as the exciting Ayo Quadri was taken down in the area with the referee remaining unmoved.
