■ BLYTH Town came out the happier of the two teams in this local derby after they played out a goal-less draw at Woodhorn Lane with Ashington yesterday afternoon.
Five minutes into the second half, the visitors had Marcus Giles sent off for a second yellow card, but Blyth defended well to keep the Colliers out.
Blyth captain Joe Gibson had the first chance of the clash, but he flicked the ball over following a free-kick.
