MALDON & Tiptree returned to the top of the Isthmian North on Saturday with a hard-fought win over nine-man Downham Town.
It was attack versus defence from the first whistle, with Anisius Lewis forcing Jasper Briggs into a smart save inside the opening minute.
Downham were reduced to ten men after just seventeen minutes when Arturs Visocanskis received a second yellow card.
Jack Cawley struck the inside of the post and Freddie Sears was denied by Briggs’ trailing leg.
Maldon eventually made the breakthroug...
