ALATE strike from Cameron James was enough to give Maldon & Tiptree derby-day victory over Heybridge Swifts.
In front of a huge crowd of 1,596, a tepid first half was interjected with rare moments of quality.
Maldon went closest to breaking the deadlock with just over 20 minutes gone when James had a cross hacked off the line. Swifts nearly took the lead before half-time, but their cross was cleared with William Una-dike waiting for a tap in.
