■ MALDON & Tiptree produced a statement performance to secure a vital victory over Brightlingsea Regent.
In a fiercely contested encounter, chances were at a premium during a cagey first half.
On the stroke of half-time, Maldon & Tiptree were awarded a penalty after a clumsy challenge inside the area. Up stepped Freddie Sears, who showed all his experience and composure to calmly dispatch the spot-kick in the 45th minute.
