■ GRAYS Athletic turned the form book upside down with a comprehensive defeat of promotion-chasing Bowers & Pitsea.
The visitors had an early chance but Jamie Salmon hit the side netting before Grays took control.
Ned Hepburn out wide was a constant threat and only keeper Joe Whitney’s outstretched foot prevented him opening the scoring.
