WAYNE Crutcher tasted defeat for the first time since his appointment as Bashley boss as in-form Malvern Town strengthened their grip on a place in the promotion play-offs.
The hosts gave as good as they got before the break, and Jack Lovell failed to hit the target after running clear of the Malvern back line.
Harvey Bertrand then forced visiting goalkeeper Josh Bishop to save smartly at his near post, while at the other end Sam Clark headed wide of the target.
