DOWNHAM’S stay at step four was brought to an end with defeat to Brightlingsea at the Memorial Field.
Their fate was confirmed after wins for both Grays and Lowestoft.
After falling behind to a Shane Temple goal in the sixth minute, Charlie Royle equalised.
A brilliant save from visiting goalkeeper Luke Avenell denied Harley Murkin before the visitors struck either side of the break.
Temple grabbed his second
of the afternoon in the 38th minute, although there was a hint of a home player helping the ball into the back of the net.
