Kieran Jones stepped up, but the former Tilbury keeper saved the spot-kick.
Witham netted the opener on the stroke of half-time, as Sam Bantick’s dummy in the middle of the park ran all the way through to Jordan Elongo on the right, who slotted the ball past Lawlor to break the deadlock.
