Moments into the match the ball was squared to Brighouse’s Laurence Sorhaindo who thought he had put the home side ahead, but it was ruled out for offside.
Brighouse goalkeeper Brett Souter’s misjudgement allowed a Dunston player to chip him from just outside the 18-yard box, but Matty Nebard headed off the line as he came to the hosts’ rescue.
