East Hull FC to change name to FC Humber United

FC HUMBER United will be a new name in the Division One from the start of next season, writes ROBIN JONES.

Under the banner “New club, new start, new vision,” FC have voted to change its name as part of the club’s long-term ambition to become a big part of the community of Hull and the Humber region.”

A club statement said: “We are not just a football club as we aim to serve the community and engage with as many different organisations to enhance the sports and personal development of people at all age groups.”

Chairman Richard Smales said: “It is a tough time for everyone right now with the continued lockdown situation and the continued threat of Covi-19 impacting on our lives on a daily basis.

“However, it is during this period in time which has given myself and fellow club colleagues the opportunity to plan, develop and bring to life a fresh look for the football club in preparation for the 2021-22 season.

“We are also going to be launching our own community foundation alongside an academy in partnership with United Football Academy & Brighter Futures in the coming months.”
