GATESHEAD chairman Graham Wood says he is pleased to have avoided going to an FA tribunal over Josh Gillies’ move to Carlisle United.

Gillies joined the Cumbrians in June but as is under the age of 24, the League One side were required to pay a compensation fee to the Tynesiders.

The two clubs have now come to an agreement about the compensation package, much to the relief of Wood.

Speaking to the Gateshead official website, Wood said: “It has taken us a little while to get there, longer than we would have liked, but I’m pleased we’ve avoided the need to go to a tribunal.

“The good thing is that it was all conducted very amicably and it was obviously just a difference of opinion which we’ve eventually resolved.

“Everyone is happy, presumably none more than the player himself, and we all wish Josh the very best in his new career at Carlisle.”
