Burman Has Darts’ Full Backing

By Joshua Peck

TONY BURMAN has been given a vote of confidence by chairman Dave Skinner despite a run of eight straight league defeats.

Dartford have struggled mightily in recent weeks, scoring just three times in those eight losses. And they presented with their first away win of the season last Saturday.

The Kent side sit in the Skrill Premier relegation zone with just winless Hyde below them but chairman Skinner is not going to hit the panic button and sack Burman.

He said: “We know there are problems that Tony has to deal with but he has our full backing. We want to stay in this division but we are building for the long-term and that is most important.

“If we have to be relegated in order to keep the club going then we will, but Tony is key in the running of this club so we are helping him as much as we can.”

Dartford's last league win came against fellow strugglers Hyde midway through October, when a Matt Godden hat-trick helped the Darts to victory.

Godden has recently returned to parent club , and Burman is aware that a some of his other loan players have deals expiring in the coming weeks.

He said: “The loanees are good players, but you get quality from having belief and confidence. We are running low on that at the moment after the last few weeks.

“It is difficult, but we have a few games against other part-time sides now and that puts us on a level playing field. We still need that belief though to drive us forward.”
