DULWICH HAMLET’S Frazer Shaw has been called-up to the England C squad alongside Aldershot Town’s Jordan Roberts.

Roberts becomes the 16th man named in Paul Fairclough’s squad to take on Republic of Ireland’s U21s. Non-League’s Three Lions will travel to Galway for the friendly that takes place on Monday, June 1.

Left-back Shaw replaces Blackpool-bound Jarrett Rivers, who has pulled out with a groin strain following a fantastic season with Blyth Spartans.

Callum Chettle, of Ilkeston, Rushall Olympic’s goal machine Aaron Williams and Hendon’s Charlie Goode complete the Step 3 picks.

Overall Fairclough has picked seven new faces in the 16-man squad. Chester defender Ben Heneghan, Braintree’s Simeon Akinola and Dover Athletic’s Sean Raggett are all in line for international debuts.

With rumoured FA cuts, there have been fears England C fixtures could be wiped off the calendar. But Fairclough is preparing his side for the next International Challenge Trophy tournament as normal.

He said: “This game provides me with an opportunity to plan for the forthcoming ICT games which will begin later in the year.

“Gone are the players who served us well over the last couple of years and I have selected a squad drawn from Step 1, 2, and 3 of the National League System.

“I believe in giving young talented players an opportunity to represent their country regardless of the level they are currently playing.”
