FORMER Trafford boss Garry Vaughan has returned to management with struggling Evo-Stik NPL Premier side Ramsbottom United.

Vaughan left Trafford in November after six seasons as manager. He led the club from the North West Counties League to the Evo-Stik NPL Premier.

He had recently been helping the youngsters at FC United of Manchester but he is now back in the dugout, replacing Rams legend Jon Robinson who quit last month.

Phil Edghill, who was appointed as caretaker manager, will remain at the club in a three-man management team which also includes coach Wayne Goodison.

Vaughan said: “It’s brilliant to be back in football management. For the last three or four months, I’ve felt it was time to return and I’m absolutely delighted that Ramsbottom United have given me the opportunity.

“It’s quite a challenge, but I’m looking forward to taking the club forward and maintaining our position in this league.”

Chairman Harry Williams added: “It was a unanimous decision, and we look forward to working with Garry who we are sure will do a fine job in stabilising the team and taking the club forward.”
