UTTOXETER TOWN have been praised after helping Leek Town reserves keeper Tom Porter-Hargreaves who had collapsed during their game on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was lining up to take a goal kick in the Staffordshire County Senior League game at Uttoxeter when he fell to the ground clutching his chest.

Fortunately for Porter-Hargreaves, a doctor was watching the game and he helped treat the youngster before he was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

The game was abandoned and the Newcastle-under-Lyme based stopper was diagnosed with sudden inflammation of the muscles between his ribs causing pressure on his lungs resulting in difficulty breathing.

He was kept in hospital overnight and released on Sunday morning and a Leek statement read: “Fortunately there was a doctor watching the game and he treated the distressed youngster until he was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

“Blues officials have thanked everyone at Uttoxeter Town for their assistance, especially the doctor who was in attendance.”
