KENDAL TOWN boss Michael Stringfellow has quit the club after losing a number of first team players following budget cuts.

The Mintcakes have lost 11 players since chairman Haydon Munslow stepped down two weeks ago.

Despite that, the club are sitting in a respectable 11th place in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North following two wins in their last three league games.

Stringfellow, and his assistant Iain Swan, stepped down after training on Tuesday night, leaving U23 manager Gary Fawcett in charge for Saturday’s visit of Trafford.

Acting Kendal chairman George Gudgeon said: “First team management team Michael Stringfellow and Iain Swan have announced their resignation from Kendal Town Football Club with immediate effect.

“Michael and Iain said goodbye to the players on Tuesday 15th December at training.

“After a long discussion with Michael and their reasons for leaving the club Kendal Town FC have accepted his resignation with a deep sadness.

“The club would like to thank Michael and Iain for all their hard work and service they have given the club during their period in office. We would also like to wish them all the best in the future.”
