NEW MILLS finally had something to shout about on Tuesday night as they picked up their first point of the season at Witton Albion.

The Evo-Stik NPL Division One North strugglers had lost all 22 of their league games before last night’s trip to Wincham Park.

It could have been even better for the Millers as they led twice on the night thanks to goals from Darrhyl Mason in the 12th and 53rd minutes.

However, Witton fought back and claimed a draw thanks to strikes by Danny Andrews and Rob Hopley as New Mills held on for their first point of the campaign.

Garry Brown – the club’s fourth manager since June – saw his side raise their goal total for the season to 13 but their 85 conceded leaves them with a goal difference of -72.

The Millers, who were reprieved from relegation last term, are now 15 points adrift of safety ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bamber Bridge.
