AMBITIOUS Basford United have been boosted by the news that the Football Foundation have confirmed the club will receive funding for a new 3G pitch.

The Nottinghamshire side, who play in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South, want to convert the playing surface at their Greenwich Avenue home to 3G to allow wider use by the community.

Working alongside the Football Foundation, the Nottinghamshire FA and Nottinghamshire Citty Council, the club say the news is the “culmination of a dream to create a state of the art community football stadium”. They hope the new pitch will be installed for the start of next season.

Having worked on the project for the last 18 months, Basford chairman Chris Munroe was understandably ecstatic.

He said: “Words cannot express how delighted and thankful the community football club is to the Football Foundation and the Notts FA in supporting us in this project. It is fabulous for the football community.”
