GARRY VAUGHAN has added three new signings to his Ramsbottom United side as the club continue their fight against relegation.

The Rams may be bottom of the Evo-Stik NPL Premier and eight points adrift of safety but Vaughan will be hoping the fresh faces will give his side a big boost.

Experienced central defender Kevin McGrath, 30, arrives at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium from Mossley having formerly played for Radcliffe Borough.

Also joining are Glossop North End left-back Andy Smart, 29, and 25-year-old central midfielder Sean Williams from the Congleton Town.

The signings are a bit of positive news for Ramsbottom, who have endured a tough couple of months due to the recent floods.

Their games against Grantham on Saturday and Nantwich on Tuesday were both postponed, bringing the total amount of games called off this season to 14 – two more than the whole of last term.

A club spokesman said “We thought last year was bad for games being called off, but incredibly this year is even worse, and we’re not out of winter yet!

“Most games have fallen victim of the ridiculously wet weather since November, although cup ties have also played their part. We just hope that after all the problems the club has had this season, we can resume playing without further interruption until the end of the season.”
