Eastleigh have completed the signing of experienced defender Reda Johnson.

The National League side have handed the 28-year-old a one-year contract, with the option of another year, after he was released at the end of last season by Coventry, having spent two years at the Midlands club.

Johnson, a former captain at previous clubs Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry, has made 149 Football League appearances, netting an impressive 19 goals from defence.

Although most comfortable as a left-sided centre-back, he can also be deployed as a left-back, a position he made his own while playing at Sheffield Wednesday in League One.

The 6″3 defender, who grew up in France, is also a Benin international, with 10 appearances in total for his national side, and will add great depth and experience to the Spitfires.

The Hampshire club will be looking to build on their start to the season, in which they have taken four points from their opening two games, a win against Guiseley and a draw at Braintree.

Johnson will go straight into Chris Todd’s squad when they take on Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park on Saturday.

Eastleigh signing a player of Reda Johnson’s calibre is a great deal for the club, and if you want a great deal, you can’t go wrong with this bgo promo code 2016!
