FORMER Rushall Olympic boss Richard Sneekes is back in management with Evo-Stik NPL Premier strugglers Sutton Coldfield Town.

The former Ajax, West Brom and Bolton midfielder replaces Neil Tooth, who was sacked last week after a slow start to the new season.

Sneekes has been out of football since stepped down as Rushall boss in May after guiding them to finishes of ninth and tenth in the competitive NPL Premier.

He claimed he had taken the club as far as he could and has now taken up the challenge of guiding Sutton Coldfield up the table.

The Royals, promoted via the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South play-offs in 2014-15, finished an impressive 12th in their debut Step 3 season but their second campaign hasn’t started as positively.

Sutton are third from bottom after Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Coalville Town having picked up just three wins in 20 league games.

Royals supporters will be able to quiz their new manager with a 45-minute Q&A session scheduled for Friday night in the clubhouse at Coles Lane before he takes charge of his first game at former club Rushall on Saturday.

A brief Sutton statement read: “Sutton Coldfield Town are delighted to announce ex-Albion midfielder Richard Sneekes has been appointed our new boss.

“Richard was the stand out candidate among 40 applicants and will now prepare for his first game in charge on Saturday against Rushall – a club Sneekes has managed.”
