HALESOWEN TOWN defender Asa Charlton was in the doghouse on Saturday after his dog Dusty stormed the pitch, halting play for over six minutes!

Charlton’s pet beagle wandered onto the pitch at the Grove with Halesowen’s Evo-Stik NPL Premier match against Skelmersdale United clearly needing a bit of entertainment.

The hound displayed pace and agility that Lionel Messi would be proud of, avoiding capture for over five minutes as he checked every blade of grass.

Dusty left Halesowen keeper Daniel Platt and winger Lee Chilton in his wake as spectators watched on, fittingly on April Fool’s Day.

Every dog has its day and unfortunately for Dusty, its brief cameo was eventually brought to an end, allowing the game to continue.

The Yeltz went on to win the match 1-0 in their continued fight against relegation but it’s fair to say that the football won’t be the thing remembered from this encounter!

Dave Hawley, Halesowen Town’s commercial manager, said: “It was crazy – everyone was trying to get it and it kept running off.”

You can watch video of Dusty’s appearance below, courtesy of YeltzTV.
