PAUL COX says the chance to build a football club made it an easy decision to say yes to being Guiseley’s new manager.
The 45-year-old, who guided Mansfield to the Conference title in 2013, has replaced Adam Lockwood in the hot-seat after the former Lions defender was sacked last week with the club sat in the National League relegation zone.
Cox began the season in charge of fellow National League side Barrow but resigned after five games.
Now he’s back in a job and while the priority is to produce an upturn in results, he says the chance to look long-term is also exciting.
“After the call I received from Steve [Parkin] at Guiseley, we met up a couple of times – the ambition of the club and what they want to do in a proper, logical time-frame is something that really appealed to me,” Cox said.
“There is a plan in place and things they want to achieve. But they understand there has to be a logical time-frame to that. What excited me was the chance to go in and build a football club.”
