“It’s been one of the most frustrating injuries of my career” says Silkmen’s Hodgkiss

Macclesfield Town full-back Jared Hodgkiss is eager to make a return to first-team action after being unable to pull on the shirt for his new club since he joined this summer.
The 30-year-old left Kidderminster Harriers to become John Askey’s first signing of the summer in June but has been hampered by a groin injury picked up in pre-season meaning he is yet to make his debut.
But Hodgkiss remains confident he could feature in the Silkmen’s away trip to Torquay United on Saturday after returning to training recently.
“I’ve been training since the middle of last week so I’m feeling good and hopefully I will be in contention for Torquay away,” the right-back told the club’s official website.
“I think this has been one of my most frustrating injuries, purely down to the timing of the injury. It was three days before the start of the season and was hard to take. But the boys have performed well so far this season so that helps while being injured.”
Askey has covered Hodgkiss’ absence with the loan signing of Adam Yates from Port Vale and on occasion shifting midfielder Noe Baba into the defence. Something that has impressed Hodgkiss as the team have conceded 14 goals in 11 National League games.
“It is very important to have a good squad and players being able to play in different positions always helps, especially if they are keeping their performance levels high.”
