London’s second oldest club Waltham Forest set out to save club’s existence

Essex Senior League side Waltham Forest have created a crowdfunding campaign in a last-ditch attempt to save the club from an uncertain future.
Forest were formed back in 1868 and groundshare with fellow Step 5 side Wadham Lodge at their stadium on Kitchener Road.
Since starting the season the Stags’ on-field results have reflected their uncertainty away from the pitch with a run of three wins in 17 games leaving the club languishing one place off bottom of the table in 20th.
The club has admitted that both its short and long term future remains under threat just one year ahead of celebrations for its 150th anniversary, and have taken the step of seeking donations through a crowdfunding page to keep them afloat.
The Stags’ official website confirmed: “The club has fallen on tough times, with funding needed to ensure the continuation through the 2017-18 season and beyond.
“Forest now operate a first team, and Ladies team, a Veterans team and multiple youth teams, serving the borough of Waltham Forest and beyond.
“We’ve provided the pathway for former England Amateur internationals, as well as current Football League players like Bradley Johnson, Wes Thomas, Alfie Potter and Nathan Smith.
“Every penny helps keep this historic club alive.”
