Wrexham have bolstered their goal-shy frontline with the signing of striker Ferdinand Takyi on a non-contract agreement.
The 6ft 4″ 23-year-old has been on trial with Dean Keates’ side for the past few weeks and now the Dragons boss has decided to hand him a deal.
Only the bottom four clubs in the National LeagueChester, Torquay United, Guiseley and Solihull Moors – have scored less than Wrexham’s 23 goals.
Takyi, from Ghana, started his career at German side Eintracht Braunschweig U19s before moving to TB Uphusen.
In 2015, he signed for Latvian club Spartaks but headed back to Germany the following year with FC Oberneuland, where he scored 13 times in 14 appearances.
National League South side Bognor Regis Town signed Takyi in October although he only played once.
He told Wrexham’s club website: “I’m very happy [to sign]. I’ve been here on trial and it’s been an amazing experience. The lads and the facilities are great.
“I’m proud of myself for what I’ve achieved. I’m looking forward to doing more here and enjoy football. Through my physique I have to use what I have, I think that is my strongest attribute. I love scoring goals.”
Takyi will be available for selection tomorrow when Wrexham welcome Harrogate Town in the FA Trophy first round.
