“It’s an absolute disgrace what they’ve done” – Dean Keates furious with alleged eye gouging incident

Wrexham boss Dean Keates was left fuming on Boxing Day after captain Shaun Pearson was on the receiving end of an alleged eye gouging against Barrow.
Pearson headed Wrexham level in the first-half following Moussa Diarra’s second minute opener as the Dragons slipped to fourth in the National League.
The former Grimsby Town centre-half was substituted in added time, complaining about an issue with his sight – and a furious Keates revealed the extent of the issue afterwards.
“He’s (Pearson) gone off at the end and things have happened that should never happen on a football pitch,” he said.
“When you try to gouge someone in the eye and scratch his face and his eye and have his fingers in his eye and face.
“I’ve had a word with the referee and asked him to look back at it I think it’s an absolute disgrace what they’ve done to Shaun.”
Wrexham make the long trip to Gateshead on Saturday hoping to close the four-point gap on leaders Macclesfield Town.
